Wednesday 6th February - Welcome 2013

Happy New Year everyone! It is already February, and we are back, ready to start our reading adventures for another year.  It was good to catch up and share each other's news as much had happened during our break over the festive season.

An shared her lovely travel pictures with us, some quite amazing, including "The elephant with 5 legs"!!!
We also caught up on what everyone had read over the holiday period, some of which is displayed below:






He read The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling.  She found it interesting. There have been many negative reviews about it but she says it was good to read it as it showed another side to JK. Best to read and form your own opinion!!

Fra read The Garden of Evening Mists, by Tan Twan Eng.  The book is set in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia,  and alternates in time from the present to the past (1930's during and after Japanese Occupation in Malaya).

An also read Sarah Thornhill by Kate Grenville which is part of Grenville's colonial trilogy.  Each book can be read on its own as each is a story in itself.

Ant listened to the audio of the Hunger Games trilogy which she thoroughly enjoyed.  She also listened to The Woman who Went to Bed for a Year, by Sue Townsend and Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult.

Su read The Paris Wife by Paula McClain.  It is about the love affair between Ernest Hemmingway and his wife Hadley.

She also watched Coco Chanel and read a number of other books .... including The Boy who sleeps in My Bedroom Window, and The Engagement - a Psychological thriller.

Ca read The House of Fiction by Susan Swingler, a Christmas present from Fra.  It is a biography and Ca says that it is beautifully written.  She was fascinated by the whole book and could not put it down, therefore ended up reading it very quickly .... much too quickly than intended.
